The scintillation light was viewed by 1267000100010 twelve AVP 57 multipliers. A 1 mm-thick lithium glass 1267000100011 detector was used as a neutron flux monitor in the 1267000100012 white spectra measurements. 1267000100013 SAMPLE The samples consisted of metallic discs with a 1267000100014 diameter of 8.9 cm. With exception of the Ho sample 1267000100015 which contained 2% Er, all samples were at least 1267000100016 99.5% pure. 1267000100017 METHOD (TOF) The samples were placed in the flight-path 2.5 1267000100018 m from the source. This was sufficient to separate by 1267000100019 time-of-flight the low energy neutron group of the 1267000100020 source reaction up to 2.5 MeV primary neutron energy. 1267000100021 ERR-ANALYS (DATA-ERR) The dominant uncertainty is due to the 1267000100022 extrapolation of the capture gamma-ray energy spectra 1267000100023 to zero pulse height. This uncertainty limits the 1267000100024 accuracy of the present measurements to 7 percent at 1267000100025 best. The statistics and background contribute in 1267000100026 this case appreciably to the uncertainty of the data. 1267000100027 The size of the symbols shows the uncertainty of the 1267000100028 measurement. 1267000100029 CORRECTION Corrections were applied for the capture of neutrons 1267000100030 scattered elastically or inelastically within the 1267000100031 sample, the efficiencies for the capture and the 1267000100032 neutron detector, scattering of neutrons in air, and 1267000100033 the neutron flux attenuation in the samples.
