In regions 1279100100017 where data was taken at energy intervals of 50 keV or 1279100100018 less, the average of the cross sections in the 1279100100019 interval En +-50keV was taken to represent the 1279100100020 measured total cross section at En. This procedure was 1279100100021 carried out at 50 keV intervals. Where the data 1279100100022 points were more than 50 keV apart, the data at each 1279100100023 bombarding energy were averaged, and this was taken 1279100100024 to represent the cross section at that energy. 1279100100025 ERR-ANALYS (DATA-ERR) The only known contribution to the 1279100100026 uncertainty in the cross sections that was significant 1279100100027 was the counting statistics in the detected neutrons. 1279100100028 However, random fluctuations in the cross sections of 1279100100029 both carbon and tin were two to three times larger 1279100100030 than would be predicted by statistics alone. Thus, we 1279100100031 estimate the uncertainties below 2.3 MeV to be 1.0 to 1279100100032 1.8% and in the energy range 2.3 to 5.0 MeV to be 2.0 1279100100033 to 2.4%. Unresolved fine structure can be seen in the 1279100100034 cross sections of some of the isotopes below 1 MeV. 1279100100035 Ignoring this fine structure, all the measured cross 1279100100036 sections agree within 5% up to 2 MeV and 10% over the 1279100100037 whole energy range with the cross section calculated 1279100100038 from a complex potential whose real and imaginary well 1279100100039 depths have the usual linear energy dependence, and 1279100100040 also a neutron excess dependence. 1279100100041 HISTORY (19890127C) 1279100100042 (20121217A) BP: Updated to new date formats,lower 1279100100043 case.
