It consists of 160 BaF2 scintillation crystals, 1436100100026 and each one has the same solid-angle coverage. The 1436100100027 calorimeter has inner radius of 17 cm and each 1436100100028 crystal has length of 15 cm. 1436100100029 (PPAC) Parallel plate avalanche counter was used to 1436100100030 detect fission fragments and tag the gamma rays from 1436100100031 fission. The PPAC consists of two electrically 1436100100032 connected anodes and one cathode.The anodes are made 1436100100033 of 1.4 mu-m thick aluminized mylar and are located 3 1436100100034 mm away from either side of the cathode. The cathode 1436100100035 is made of 3 mu-m thick titanium foil with the target 1436100100036 material electroplated on both sides and then 1436100100037 sandwiched between two mylar foils of the same 1436100100038 thickness. 1436100100039 METHOD (TOF) Neutron energy determined by time of flight 1436100100040 method. Detection time of the "flash" of gamma rays 1436100100041 caused by the spallation reaction was used as a 1436100100042 reference marker. The detection time of the gamma rays 1436100100043 produced by neutrons interacting with the sample was 1436100100044 used to calculate the time of flight. 1436100100045 (COINC) Coincidence between fission fragments 1436100100046 detected by PPAC and gamma rays detected by DANCE 1436100100047 was required. 1436100100048 INC-SOURCE (SPALL) Pulsed neutron beam was produced via 1436100100049 spallation on a natural W target by an 800-MeV proton 1436100100050 linear accelerator beam. The average proton beam 1436100100051 current at the spallation target was about 1 - 2 1436100100052 mu-A. The neutron beam structure contained 625 mu-s 1436100100053 long 'macropulses' driven by two of every three such 1436100100054 macropulses from the accelerator for an average rate 1436100100055 of 40/s. Each macropulse consisted of 'micropulses' 1436100100056 spaced every 1.8 mu-s, each <1 ns long. The pulsed 1436100100057 beam allowed incident neutron energies to be 1436100100058 determined using the time-of-flight technique. 1436100100059 ANALYSIS The unfolded distributions were determined by using 1436100100060 both the iterative Bayesian and the singular- 1436100100061 value decomposition (SVD) methods.
