The 1445900100018 sample diameter was approx. 1 cm. 1445900100019 DETECTOR (IOCH) A double Frisch-gridded ionization chamber. 1445900100020 The detector consisted of a chamber 12 cm in diameter 1445900100021 and 13.5 cm in length filled with P10 gas (90% argon, 1445900100022 10% methane) to 95 kPa in pressure at a flow rate of 1445900100023 <0.1 l/min. A central cathode 11 cm in diameter 1445900100024 separated the volume into two halves and held the 1445900100025 239Pu sample. Each half of the detector contained an 1445900100026 anode, 12 cm in diameter, for signal collection. The 1445900100027 anodes were separated from the common cathode by 1445900100028 Frisch grids with an active radius of 4.5 cm. 1445900100029 METHOD (TOF) Energy of primary neutrons were determined by 1445900100030 time of flight. The timing structure of the neutron 1445900100031 beam was a 40-pulses/s macropulse structure sampled 1445900100032 from the 60-Hz accelerator frequency with 340 1445900100033 micropulses spaced 1.8 mu-s apart superimposed onto it.1445900100034 INC-SOURCE (SPALL) The neutrons, created by spallation of 800- 1445900100035 MeV protons from the LANSCE accelerator onto an 1445900100036 unmoderated tungsten target, traveled 12.02+-0.01 m 1445900100037 in air down the flight path collimation to the 1445900100038 experimental setup. 1445900100039 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-T) Total uncertainty calculated from statistical, 1445900100040 calibration, and wraparound uncertainties. Statistical1445900100041 uncertainty is the largest contribution 1445900100042 (ERR-1,15.,18.)
