They were mounted 1448200100012 normal to the incident beam at a distance of 2.54 cm 1448200100013 downstream from the end of the deuterium gas cell when 1448200100014 the 2H(d,n)3He reaction was employed. At 14 MeV the 1448200100015 238U target was positioned at a distance of 2.54 cm 1448200100016 from the 0.4 mm thick Cu backing of the tritiated 1448200100017 titanium foil. 1448200100018 DETECTOR (HPGE) The targets were gamma-ray counted in TUNL's 1448200100019 low-background counting facility, using a set of high 1448200100020 efficient standard HPGe and HPGe Clover detectors. 1448200100021 The dead time of the counting system was less than 1448200100022 1%.
