The silicon detectors are thin for 2288800100028 the delTa-E1 detectors 50-60 mu-meters and thicker 2288800100029 for the delta-E2 400-500-mu-meters. The active areas 2288800100030 are about 450 mm2, both types being fully depleted 2288800100031 standard silicon surface-barrier detectors. The 2288800100032 material of E-detectors is CsI(Tl) scintillator 2288800100033 crystal, total thickness 50 mm consisting of a 2288800100034 cylindrical and a conical part. The cylindrical part 2288800100035 thickness is 30 mm and diameter 40 mm which is thick 2288800100036 enough to stop 100-MeV protons. Events associated 2288800100037 with 96 MeV neutrons from the beam are selected using 2288800100038 a time-of-flight technique. 2288800100039 A Am-241 alpha-source, introduced in the center of the2288800100040 MEDLEY chamber, was used to obtain data for the energy2288800100041 calibration of the delta-E detectors. 2288800100042 INC-SPECT The flux of about 3. x 10**4 neutrons/s/cm2. 2288800100043 SAMPLE Two different carbon targets and one polyethylene 2288800100044 C-H2-target were used.
