The length of the target gas cell is 2.0 cm, 3274100100015 and separated from the vacuum tube with a molybdenum 3274100100016 foil of 5.0 um in thickness. A gold foil of 0.2 mm 3274100100017 in thickness was used as the beam dump at the 3274100100018 downstream side of the gas cell. The deuterium gas 3274100100019 pressure in the gas cell was 2.9 to 3.1 atm, and the 3274100100020 intensity of the deuteron beam was about 3.0 uA. 3274100100021 DETECTOR (IOCH) The gridded ionization chamber (GIC) with 3274100100022 symmetric double sections acted as the alpha particle 3274100100023 detector. The distances from the cathode to grid, 3274100100024 grid to anode and anode to shield were 61, 15 and 9 3274100100025 mm, respectively. The working gas in the GIC was a 3274100100026 mixture of Kr+CO2(2.82%). 3274100100027 (BF3) The BF3 long counter worked as the neutron flux 3274100100028 monitor for normalization of background subtraction 3274100100029 and for absolute neutron flux calibration. The 3274100100030 external diameter of this proportional counter is 38 3274100100031 mm, and the active length is about 25 cm. 3274100100032 SAMPLE (20-CA-40,ENR=0.9694) The material of the 40Ca sample 3274100100033 is natural CaF2 (purity 98.5%). The circular film 3274100100034 samples were prepared on tantalum backings by using 3274100100035 the vacuum evaporation method. A stack of two CaF2 3274100100036 samples were installed at the center of the GIC, the 3274100100037 sample thickness of forward and backward were 364.5 3274100100038 and 339.8 ug/cm2, the sample diameter of forward and 3274100100039 backward were 4.35 and 4.20 cm.
