The target was heated red 3302200100010 hot to fix the activity to the planchet. 3302200100011 METHOD (REC,GSPEC) The recoiling fission products from the 3302200100012 244-Cm target were collected on 0.0075 cm thick Lexan 3302200100013 (polycarbonate) catcher foils kept at a distance 6 3302200100014 mm from the target in 2 pi geometry for 2 to 60 hours 3302200100015 depending upon the half lives of the nuclides of 3302200100016 interest. After the exposure the lexan foils were 3302200100017 removed, washed with very dilute nitric acid and 3302200100018 distilled water to remove any possible contamination of3302200100019 244-Cm. They were then mounted on a Perspex plate and 3302200100020 counted at a fixed geometry and efficiency calibrated 3302200100021 120 c.c. HPGe detector. 3302200100022 DETECTOR (HPGE) The lexan foils were counted at a fixed 3302200100023 geometry on an energy and efficiency calibrated 120 3302200100024 c.c HPGe detector coupled to a 4096 channel analyzer 3302200100025 in live time mode. The resolution of the detector 3302200100026 system was 1.8 keV at 1332 keV of 60-Co. The dead 3302200100027 time was kept at less than 10% to avoid pile up effect.3302200100028 ANALYSIS (AREA) From the photo peak areas of gamma rays of the 3302200100029 nuclides of interest, independent isomeric yield 3302200100030 ratios were calculated using usual decay growth 3302200100031 equation after correcting for the precursor 3302200100032 contribution.
