These targets were A045200100013 deposited on aluminum backings of uniform thickness of A045200100014 6.75 mg/cm**2 , placed over a rectangular masking A045200100015 plate. A thin aluminum layer of thickness 25 mg/cm**2 A045200100016 was further deposited by vacuum evaporation onto the A045200100017 upper surface of the prepared targets, so that the A045200100018 moisture would not affect the surface of these targets.A045200100019 METHOD (STTA) See sample A045200100020 aluminum foils of different thicknesses were also A045200100021 interspersed as energy degraders in order to get the A045200100022 desired alpha-particle energy on different targets. A045200100023 (ACTIV) A stack of KBr and TlCl comprised of eight A045200100024 targets each was irradiated at 50 MeV for 3 hours. A045200100025 Moreover, stacks of KBr comprised of six foils and of A045200100026 TlCl having two foils were irradiated at 30 and 25 A045200100027 MeV, respectively, for 3 hours each. A045200100028 (BCINT) A045200100029 (GSPEC) A045200100030 DETECTOR (GELI) A045200100031 FACILITY (ISOCY,3INDVEC) A045200100032 HISTORY (20021202C) A045200100033 (20021218R) Corrected data table is received from m. A045200100034 Afzal ansari. A045200100035 (20021218U) Last checking has been done. A045200100036 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-T) The uncertainty in the detector efficiency dueA045200100037 to the statistical errors of counting, is estimated toA045200100038 be <1%. Since the irradiated targets were not point A045200100039 sources, the uncertainties due to a solid angle are A045200100040 estimated and is found to be <5%. The total A045200100041 uncertainty in the efficiency is estimated to be <6.5%.A045200100042 The uncertainty due to flux variation is estimated to A045200100043 be <4%. In order to minimize the errors due to the A045200100044 dead time, particularly for the cases where the A045200100045 activity in the irradiated samples was large, the A045200100046 sample-detector distance was suitably adjusted to keep A045200100047 the dead time <10%. However, the corrections were A045200100048 applied in the counting rates accordingly. The errors A045200100049 in the estimation of number of target nuclei were A045200100050 analyzed and are estimated to be <1%. To avoid the A045200100051 uncertainty due to the recoiling of nuclei out of the A045200100052 sample, the targets were placed perpendicular to the A045200100053 incident beam such that sample deposition faced the A045200100054 incident beam. As such, the recoiling nuclei are A045200100055 likely to be trapped in the aluminum backing; hence, A045200100056 no correction is applied for that. As the beam A045200100057 traverses the stack materials, low-energy neutrons may A045200100058 be released which in turn may disturb the yield. A045200100059 However, it was indicated that such disturbing yields A045200100060 are negligible. The overall error due to all these A045200100061 factors mentioned above is expected to be <12%. The A045200100062 overall errors including the statistical errors in A045200100063 counting and are generally <20% except for few points.A045200100064 These errors do not include the uncertainty of the A045200100065 nuclear data such as the branching ratio, the decay A045200100066 constants, etc A045200100067 (EN-ERR) Noany information is presented.
