When the spectrometer was used to analyze the C099500100020 scattered or reaction particles, the surface of the C099500100021 target which contained the 15N faced the entrance to C099500100022 the spectrometer. Therefore, for observations at C099500100023 angles less than 90 degrees, the incident protons C099500100024 passed through the beryllium foil before encountering C099500100025 the surface containing the 15N. Corrections to the C099500100026 energy scale have been made for this fact.
