C191600100022 METHOD (GSPEC) The beam passed through a 1.5 cm diameter Ta C191600100023 collimator and was focused into a profile of 1.5 cm C191600100024 diameter on the target. For the measurements of C191600100025 excitation functions at Ep=80-350 keV, the 80 cm3 C191600100026 Ge(Li) detector was positioned at 0 degrees in close C191600100027 geometry (1.4 cm distance between the front face of theC191600100028 crystal and the target). For subsequent investigations C191600100029 in this energy range as well as all other experiments C191600100030 at higher beam energies, the targets were mounted at 45C191600100031 degrees to the beam direction. Due to the higher C191600100032 capture cross sections at the higher beam energies no C191600100033 lead shielding was necessary. In the study of C191600100034 excitation functions and resonance properties at C191600100035 Ep > 300 keV, the Ge(Li) detector was placed-at 45 C191600100036 degrees in close geometry. In the study of gamma-ray C191600100037 angular distributions, gamma-ray spectra were obtained C191600100038 at theta = O, 45 and 90 degrees with the Ge(Li) C191600100039 detector at a distance of d = 7 cm from the target. C191600100040 An additional Ge(Li) detector at theta=-90 degrees C191600100041 was used as a monitor. C191600100042 ANALYSIS (PGS) At each point in the measurement of the C191600100043 excitation functions, all primary and secondary gamma- C191600100044 ray transitions observed in the Ge(Li) spectra were C191600100045 used in the analyses. Due to the steep drop in the C191600100046 reaction cross section at low bombarding energies, C191600100047 only the secondary transitions from the very C191600100048 low-lying states in 19F were observed at these beam C191600100049 energies. The excitation energies of all states have C191600100050 been deduced from the energies of de-excitation C191600100051 gamma-rays). These values were then used in C191600100052 conjunction with the Q-value) to determine the proton C191600100053 resonance energies. The excitation energies, obtained C191600100054 in the present work, were used throughout this work C191600100055 as nomenclature for referring to the states.
