C193300100018 (MWDC) Two position-sensitive cathode-readout drift C193300100019 chambers measured the residue position in the S800 C193300100020 focal plane, C193300100021 (IOCH) Ionization chamber measured energy loss of C193300100022 charged particles C193300100023 (CSICR) The CsI(Na) gamma-ray spectrometer CAESAR was C193300100024 placed around the Be target position of the S800 to C193300100025 observe the gamma decay of any excited states formed C193300100026 in the knockout reaction C193300100027 (SCIN) Plastic scintillators located at the focal C193300100028 point of the A1900 fragment separator and at the C193300100029 object position of S800 spectrograph measured time of C193300100030 flight and provided separation of incoming isotones. C193300100031 METHOD (EDE,TOF) C193300100032 INC-SOURCE (KINDT) The proton-rich nucleus 36Ca with t1/2 = 102 C193300100033 ms was produced by fragmenting a 140 MeV/nucleon 40Ca C193300100034 primary beam on a 9Be target and was filtered using C193300100035 the A1900 fragment separator. The 36Ca purity was 8%, C193300100036 and other beam constituents included 35K, 34Ar, 33Cl, C193300100037 and 32S. C193300100038 ANALYSIS Cross section was determined from several experimental C193300100039 runs, the RMS deviation between individual runs was C193300100040 0.7 mb i.e. 14%.
