D047200100017 METHOD (EDE) D047200100018 DETECTOR (TELES,SI,SI)Two large dE-E silicon telescopes (65 mu-mD047200100019 +500 mu-m thick) were placed in the forward part of theD047200100020 chamber to detect and identify a-particles recoiling D047200100021 in a finite angular range around 180 in the center D047200100022 of mass (c.m.) system. A microchannel plate (MCP) D047200100023 detector was mounted just before the entrance window D047200100024 to measure the beam intensity, which was of the D047200100025 order of 10**5 pps, and to produce a fast signal for D047200100026 time of flight measurement. D047200100027 ANALYSIS The elastic scattering excitation function is D047200100028 reconstructed from the measured energy spectra of D047200100029 the recoiled a-particles by taking into consideration D047200100030 the two-body kinematics and energy consideration lossesD047200100031 of 9Be in helium gas before the interaction and of D047200100032 4He after the interaction.
