The D051000100014 oxide was reduced and the chromium target material D051000100015 evaporated onto gold backings about 200 mu-g/cm2 in D051000100016 thickness. These targets ranged from 150 to D051000100017 500 mu-g/cm2 in thickness and showed a relatively D051000100018 large amount of carbon and oxygen as contaminants. D051000100019 DETECTOR (SCIN) Neutrons were detected in 10.2 cm diameter D051000100020 NE213 liquid scintillators - of thickness 2.5 cm or D051000100021 3.8 cm mounted on 12.7 cm photo-multipliers.The fourth D051000100022 counter was used for timing stabilization. It D051000100023 consisted of a 1 cm thick plastic scintillator D051000100024 mounted on a 56 AVP Amperex photomultiplier, with D051000100025 the scintillator about 0.5 m from the target.
