D053700100014 INC-SOURCE The 10,11C secondary beams were produced D053700100015 successively by fragmentation of a 95A. MeV 12C beam D053700100016 delivered by the two GANIL cyclotrons, on a 1710 mg/cm2D053700100017 (1930 mg/cm2 for 11C) thick carbon production target D053700100018 located between the two superconducting solenoids of D053700100019 the SISSI device (superconducting intense source for D053700100020 secondary ions). D053700100021 METHOD (TOF,EDE,COINC) The events considered to build the D053700100022 kinematic spectra, and afterward to extract the D053700100023 (p,p) cross sections, are those for which there is a D053700100024 proton in coincidence with the heavy ejectile and a D053700100025 particle detected in both "CATS" (see detector) D053700100026 providing the incident trajectory and the beam profile.D053700100027 The excitation energy spectra are calculated from the D053700100028 kinematic properties of the scattered protons. D053700100029 DETECTOR (TELES,SISD,SILI,CSICR) The experimental apparatus D053700100030 MUST is an array of eight three-stage telescopes, D053700100031 6 x 6 cm2 each. The first stage is a 300 mu-m thick, D053700100032 double-sided Si-strip detector, the second 3 mm D053700100033 thick Si(Li); the third stage of 1.5 cm thick CsI D053700100034 detector. D053700100035 (PS) Two position-sensitive detectors - the low D053700100036 pressure multiwire trajectory chambers CATS ("chambres D053700100037 a trajectoires de Saclay", Trajectory Chambers of D053700100038 Saclay) - were used to improve the definition of the D053700100039 position of the incoming ion on the target. D053700100040 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-SYS) This results in a total systematic error D053700100041 of +-6%, which is the main error on the normalization D053700100042 of the extracted elastic and inelastic differential D053700100043 cross sections. They come from the detection: D053700100044 * efficiency and reconstruction process, which gives D053700100045 +- 3% total uncertainty (including the effect of theD053700100046 subtraction of the background,+-1%); D053700100047 * the target thickness,+- 5%; and D053700100048 * the number of incident particles, +-2%. D053700100049 (ERR-S) Statistical uncertainty D053700100050 ADD-RES The microscopic nucleus-nucleon interaction used to D053700100051 analyze the elastic scattering on protons is described.D053700100052 It is calculated using the microscopic, complex, and D053700100053 parameter-free Jeukenne-Lejeune-Mahaux (JLM) potential.D053700100054 The theoretical ground state and transition densities D053700100055 of 10,11C provided by the AMD model and by the D053700100056 Hartree-Fock with BCS correlations (HF+BCS) and D053700100057 quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) D053700100058 formalism are examined. They are used to generate the D053700100059 microscopic JLM potential included in the (p,p') D053700100060 calculations.
