The target was rotated to an angle of 45.degr.D054000100019 from the beam axis in order to minimize the energy lossD054000100020 and angular straggling for low-energy protons. D054000100021 INC-SOURCE Here the secondary beams were produced by fragmentationD054000100022 of a 95 MeV/A 36Ar primary beam, delivered by the GANILD054000100023 facility with an intensity of 2 e mu-A, on a 492 mg/cm2D054000100024 12C target. The beams were purified by traversing a D054000100025 100 mg/cm2 plastic degrader placed in the dispersive D054000100026 plane of the alpha spectrometer spectrometer used as a D054000100027 fragment separator, transported with a momentum D054000100028 acceptance of 0.6% to the target chamber of the SPEG D054000100029 spectrometer, and finally focused on the reaction D054000100030 target. D054000100031 METHOD (TOF,EDE) D054000100032 CORRECTION The scattering angle in the laboratory frame D054000100033 (THETALab) takes into account the incident angle of D054000100034 the projectile and its position on the target D054000100035 measured with the CATS detectors. The recoil energy D054000100036 is corrected for the average energy loss in the target.D054000100037 DETECTOR (TELES,SISD,SILI,CSICR) The experimental apparatus D054000100038 MUST is an array of eight Si-strip detectors backed D054000100039 by Si(Li) diodes and CsI crystals read out by D054000100040 photodiodes, placed at 15 cm from the target. The D054000100041 double sided Si-strip detectors are 6 x 6 cm2 in D054000100042 size, 300 mu-m thick with 60 strips on each side with aD054000100043 pitch of 1 mm allowing a localization in horizontal andD054000100044 vertical directions. The charges created by the passingD054000100045 through of the incident particle are collected on D054000100046 aluminum electrodes deposited on the strips. D054000100047 The Si-strip detectors measured proton energies rangingD054000100048 from 800 keV to 6 MeV. The Si(Li) detectors have an D054000100049 active area of 58 x 58 mm2 and an active thickness of D054000100050 3 mm approximately. Protons with a maximum energy of D054000100051 25 MeV stop in this detector. The CsI crystal is D054000100052 60 x 60 x 30 mm thick, tapered from 15 mm high to D054000100053 18 x 18 mm2, and allows for the measurement of proton D054000100054 energies up to 70 MeV. D054000100055 (PS) Two position-sensitive detectors - the low D054000100056 pressure multiwire trajectory chambers CATS ("chambres D054000100057 a trajectoires de Saclay", Trajectory Chambers of D054000100058 Saclay) - were used to improve the definition of the D054000100059 position of the incoming ion on the target. D054000100060 PART-DET (P) D054000100061 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-SYS) The error on the normalization is D054000100062 estimated to be 10%, taking into account the D054000100063 background and the error on the target thickness. D054000100064 (ERR-S) Statistical uncertainty D054000100065 (ANG-ERR) Uncertainty in angle definition D054000100066 ADD-RES An analysis of the data using phenomenological D054000100067 optical model potentials (OMPs) is presented. In order D054000100068 to perform a microscopic OMP analysis a self-consistentD054000100069 Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA) D054000100070 model based on a Hartree-Fock+ BCS calculation was D054000100071 developed.
