D600600100012 In order to avoid the cross contamination of fission D600600100013 products due to large activity of direct reaction D600600100014 products, the 209Bi target was covered with a D600600100015 0.76 mumeter super pure Al foil. This will allow the D600600100016 fission products to pass and will prevent the reaction D600600100017 products. The whole assembly was put in a target holderD600600100018 and irradiated for suitable length of time with 77 MeV D600600100019 and 87.5 MeV 12C particle beam of ~100 nano-ampere. D600600100020 The incident 12C energy on the Bi targets were 73.4 MeVD600600100021 and 84.2 MeV. Bi targets and Al catchers were separatedD600600100022 from each other carefully to avoid cross contamination.D600600100023 DETECTOR (HPGE) D600600100024 METHOD (BCINT) D600600100025 (ACTIV,EXTB) Samples were irradiated for a suitable D600600100026 length of time so as to determine both the short and D600600100027 long lived fission products. D600600100028 (GSPEC) In each irradiation the decay of the gamma ray D600600100029 peak of the fission products were followed for D600600100030 suitable length of time so as to have minimum error D600600100031 due to counting statistics. D600600100032 The cumulative production cross section was determined D600600100033 for most of the mass chains. In case of shielded nucleiD600600100034 independent production cross section was determined. D600600100035 COMMENT Fission product yield studies in the reaction of D600600100036 73.4 and 84.2 MeV 12C with 209Bi have been carried out D600600100037 using gamma ray spectrometry. The cross sections for D600600100038 production of fission products have been determined. D600600100039 The yield distribution of fission products was found toD600600100040 be symmetric and broad with FWHM around 25 mass units D600600100041 and peak near mass 107.7 and 107.0. D600600100042 The average number of neutrons emitted per fission D600600100043 have been found to be around 5.5 at 73.4 MeV and 7.1 D600600100044 at 84.2 MeV respectively D600600100045 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-T) The errors listed are the standard deviations D600600100046 between the results from five different irradiations D600600100047 and various gamma rays.
