D612700100015 The material was evaporated onto a 15 ug/cm2 thick D612700100016 carbon backing (foil). D612700100017 DETECTOR (MWPC) Fission fragments following fusion were D612700100018 detected using large-area 35.7 x 28.4 cm2 position- D612700100019 sensitive multiwire proportional counters covering D612700100020 laboratory angles from 10 to 80 degrees in the D612700100021 forward hemisphere and 95 to 170 degrees in the D612700100022 backward hemisphere. D612700100023 (SIBAR) The characteristic alpha-decay from ERs was D612700100024 detected in an annular silicon surface barrier D612700100025 detector which was placed at a distance of 8 cm from D612700100026 the target, at a mean angle of 174 degrees. D612700100027 The long-lived alpha-decays were measured using a D612700100028 silicon detector placed below the annular detector at D612700100029 a distance of 0.8 cm from the target, close to the D612700100030 plane of the target ladder. D612700100031 METHOD (ASPEC) During analysis the alpha-spectra from the D612700100032 present measurements were fitted using the D612700100033 peakfitting program FITEK to obtain the intensities D612700100034 of various alpha-lines. D612700100035 ADD-RES The complete-fusion (CF) cross sections were D612700100036 determined by summing the yields for Ra isotopes, the D612700100037 small fraction of the cross sections for Rn isotopes D612700100038 associated with CF and the full fission cross D612700100039 sections. D612700100040 The said fractions were FCF=88 +/- 2% for 12C and D612700100041 FCF=97+/-2% for 13C-induced reactions, where FCF is D612700100042 the ratio of the observed CF cross sections to those D612700100043 expected without breakup. D612700100044 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-S) The errors incorporated in the cross sections D612700100045 reflect only the statistical uncertainties. D612700100046 (ERR-SYS,2.,4.) The systematic error arising out from D612700100047 target thickness, beam fluence, detector efficiency, D612700100048 etc. is 2 to 4 %. D612700100049 CORRECTION The center-of mass energies have been corrected for D612700100050 energy losses in the target.
