F058500100017 Target thickness was determined by measuring F058500100018 13C(a,n0)16O excitation functions with, respectively, aF058500100019 thick and the unknown thin target over four sharp F058500100020 resonances between Ea=3.5 and 5 MeV. By comparing F058500100021 integrated yields in corresponding resonances, a thin F058500100022 target value of 30.0+-1.7 mu-g/cm2 was derived, F058500100023 entailing an energy loss of 25 keV at Ea=4.5 MeV and F058500100024 15 keV at Ea=10.5 MeV. F058500100025 METHOD (PSD) F058500100026 CORRECTION The measured yields were corrected for the energy- F058500100027 dependent detector efficiency, normalized to the F058500100028 monitor counts, and converted to an absolute scale by F058500100029 normalization to the 0 degr. yield curve. F058500100030 ERR-ANALYS Random experimental errors were in general quite small,F058500100031 of the order of 1-2%, but the overall absolute error inF058500100032 the cross section was determined by that assigned to F058500100033 the excitation function and consequently ranged from F058500100034 +- 10% at the lower incident energies to +- 30% at theF058500100035 high-energy region.
