F094900100020 SAMPLE Nitrogen gas enriched to 96% 15N was used as a target. F094900100021 The gas pressure inside the chamber was such that the F094900100022 target thickness did not exceed 10 keV at Ed=2.0 MeV. F094900100023 For an oxygen target the chamber was filled with air atF094900100024 the same pressure. The effective target thickness was F094900100025 determined by the diameter of the last diaphragm and F094900100026 the width of the slip placed in front of the alpha F094900100027 particle counter. To decrease the beam divergence the F094900100028 last diaphragm was placed 2 cm from the centre of the F094900100029 chamber.
